Prof. Alfred Hager

Alfred Hager is a Senior Physician and Head of Functional Diagnostics at the Department of Congenital Heart Defects and Paediatric Cardiology, Deutsches Herzzentrum München, Technical University of Munich, specialising in Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine with a focus on Paediatric Cardiology. He heads the exercise testing laboratory of the department, performing more than 1,000 cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPET) annually in adolescents and adults with congenital heart disease, and maintains a CPET database of over 10,000 tests. He is a member of the Guideline Committee of the German Pediatric Cardiology Society, having authored and reviewed multiple national guidelines on congenital heart disease, and serves on the board of CPX International. His research focuses on exercise capacity, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and physical activity in children and adults with congenital heart disease. Within QUALI-NEUROREHAB, he leads work on high-intensity interval training in patients with congenital heart disease.
