Dr. Erika Rezola Arcelus
Principal Investigator for IIS Biogipuzkoa
Erika Rezola Arcelus is a paediatric cardiologist at the Paediatric Cardiology Unit of Hospital Universitario Donostia and a principal investigator at IIS Biogipuzkoa, the Basque Country's reference biomedical research institute. She is the principal investigator of the QUALIREHAB project at IIS Biogipuzkoa (grant PCI2025-163179, funded by the European THCS Partnership via ISCIII). She also leads the OnkoSoinketa initiative — an interdisciplinary programme combining paediatric oncology, rehabilitation, and cardiology to improve the quality of life of childhood cancer survivors, developed in collaboration with the units of paediatric onco-haematology and paediatric rehabilitation at Hospital Donostia. Her research focuses on exercise capacity, cardiopulmonary fitness, and rehabilitation in paediatric chronic disease.
